Player Bio

Born on July 26, 2002, Luke Doneathy is a right-handed all-rounder who plays for the Durham County team. After doing well for the England U-19 team, he was handed an opportunity to represent the first XI team.

Doneathy made his T20 debut in a fixture against in the 2021 edition of T20 Blast and returned with figures of 2/19 off two overs. A week later, his next appearance was his last T20 game for the first eleven against Nottinghamshire and was not given an opportunity with the ball. In both these appearances, the 19-year-old contributed five runs each.

In his debut List-A game against Kent in the 2021 season of the Royal London One Day Cup, Doneathy took a couple of wickets, giving away 39 runs in his six overs. With this fine performance, the all-rounder was provided an opportunity in all the games of Durham, and he finished with 152 runs at an average of 38 and a total of 8 wickets at an economy of 6.61.

In a game against Lancashire, the young gun registered his top score of 69*and also his best figures of 4/36. In the tournament, Durham emerged as the runner-up, but the expensive figures of 1/32 in 2.3 overs against Glamorgan in the final kept him away from the side for the last year.

Doneathy currently plays for the Durham second-string side and will need a solid all-round performance to make it to the first-choice lineup.
