Player Bio

A hard-hitting top-order batsman, Alex Ross is a professional cricketer for South Australia who switched from Australia Capital Territory to SA in search of better opportunities at the state level. After arriving at the domestic circuit in 2012, he churned out runs in the 2014 Matador Cup and then earned a Big Bash League (BBL) contract with the Adelaide Strikers prior to the fourth edition of the premier tournament.

Ross enjoyed an outstanding 2015-16 domestic season and was awarded the  Bradman Young Cricket of the Year award at the Allan Border Medal night. A cricketer who loves to play the sweep shot, he was dubbed as “the sweepologist” by BBL commentator, Damien Fleming.

The 29-year old became a valuable asset for the Brisbane Heat after moving from the Strikers in 2016 and piled on 518 runs in 23 innings. He later joined the Thunders in 2019 and scored at an average of 37 in his debut season for Team Green. A potential match-winner and a mature cricketer, Ross will be looking to make a mark on the upcoming edition of the BBL to earn an opportunity at the international stage.
