Player Bio

Benjamin Wentworth Munro Mike, better known as Ben Mike is a budding name in the Leicestershire setup. He is a right-arm quality pacer who has the ability to smack some useful, down the order. Graduated from the Leicestershire academy, Mike had a dream first-class debut against Sussex, in 2019, where the speedster grabbed nine wickets on debut.

Mike first emerged from the academy level, then had success to a greater extent with the Leics Second XI. The pacer made his List-A debut against touring India-A but the 50-over debut was something awful as the English side got belted by Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw, in 2018. Later, the pacer played a side game against Pakistan to earn a late-season Championship opportunity. That season, Mike bagged 19 wickets off just four games at 20.26.

The following year, he played two first-class matches for Warwickshire as he was sent out as a loan player. The 2020 season was Mike’s return to Leicestershire and he earned the tag of a T20 specialist, courtesy of his nine-ball 22 not out against Yorkshire in the T20 Blast. He bagged 12 wickets and scored 169 runs across both formats.

At the end of the season, Mike signed a new two-year contract with Leicestershire. The club’s faith in the bowling-allrounder speaks volumes of Mike’s caliber and he is surely the player to watch out for.
